Last Sunday, Hollywood handed out golden trophies at the Academy Awards—and a few days later, New York-area runners attended a gala of their very own. Local runners of all ages and abilities came out in force for Club Night, NYRR’s annual celebration of running. Age-group awards were presented to teams and individuals based on their performance at a variety of distances in 2011. Athletes young and old swapped race stories and discussed upcoming events—though some had difficulty recognizing their rivals, since everyone traded track shorts for evening wear.
